About Me:

My name is Christian Bach and I was born on May the 10th 1974 in Munich. What I looked like about one year later you can see on the picture. I went to school in Kirchheim untill 1993 when I got my Abitur at the Gymnasium Kirchheim. After that I did my civilservice at the red cross in munich untill the end of 1994.

That's me about 26 years ago having fun eating spinach.
That same year I enroled for a diploma degree in physics at the Technische Universität München. In september 1997 I left munich to do a MSc in Applied Mathematics and theoretical Physics at the University of Soutampton in the high energy physics group. In 1998 I came back to munich and finished my Diploma in august 2000 with a diploma thesis about the semiclassical treatment of nonadiabatic reactions on surfaces. After finishing my diploma I did a three month long internship with the finacial risk consulting group of Arthur Andersen. After that I became a PhD student in the same group where I did my diploma. This is what I'm still doing and probably will do untill the end of 2003.

Rowing:

When I was in england I decided to try something new and joined the Southampton University Boat Club. Since that time rowing has become my favourite sports. I enjoyed rowing in england very much especially racing and there the Head of the River in London which is, to my knowledge, the biggest race for eigths. I had also a lot of fun at the british university championships in Nottingham. When I came back to germany I sticked to rowing and didn't go back to athletics which I had done before. I competed as a lightweight in 1999 but switched back to heavyweight after gaining to much weight in the winter 1999/2000 (to be honest it's much more fun as a heavyweight ;-)). I now row for the Schleissheimer Ruderclub which is located at the regatta course of the 1972 olympics. My biggest succes in rowing so far was the victory in the men's eight at the bavarian championships 2000 in Schweinfurt.

From my athletics time

Before I switched to rowing my favourite sports was athletics and there mainly the 110 meter hurdle(my personal best over that distance is 15.50 sec.). I also did some 400 meter hurdle races (as you can see on the picture below) and a few decathlons.

This picture shows me at the south german championship 1995 in Zittau doing 400 meter hurdles. There is also a 110 meter picture.
I started with athletics at the age of ten and stayed all the time with the Kirchheimer SC.
